Lefton Lost Lights Collection, Wolf Island, Georgia

Located at the south entrance to Doboy Sound, directly across from Sapelo Lighthouse, the Wolf Island Lighthouse was first lit in July of 1822. The 55 foot tower was blown up and destroyed by Confederate forces during the Civil War. The lighthouse was rebuilt in 1868 and lasted until 1899 when it was discontinued and torn down.
