Lefton Lost Lights Collection, Tucker's Beach, New Jersey

Tucker's Beach Lighthouse was built in 1868 on Tucker's Island, which was one of the first resorts in America. By 1927 erosion had taken most of the island, with only the lighthouse remaining. A storm in that year also claimed the lighthouse. Today, a replica of the lighthouse has been built as part of the Tuckerton Seaport, which is dedicated to preserving the heritage of Jersey Shore Baymen. It is now also featured on a specialty license plate issued by the State of New Jersey.
