Lefton Lost Lights Collection, Santa Barbara, California

Built in 1856, the Santa Barbara Lighthouse was one of a number of lights built in the years following the California Gold Rush. A small two-story house with a 30-foot tower rising through it's pitched roof, the lighthouse resembled California's Old Point Loma Lighthouse. Shortly before dawn on the morning of June 29, 1925 the lighthouse was destroyed by a massive earthquake. The keeper and his family survived, but the lighthouse was never rebuilt.
