Bullocks Poiint Lighthouse built in 1872 in Narragansett Bay was one of the most architecturally beautiful lighthouses constructed in all of New England. It was severely damaged in the Great Hurricane of 1938, which also destroyed a number of other lighthouses throughout the state. It was decided that the lighthouse could not be restored and it was torn down the following year and replaced by a steel automated tower.
