Situated
half-way between Cape Henry and Bodie Island, this tower is outfitted with a
First Order lens that flashes every 20 seconds. Close to a million unpainted
bricks were used in its construction. Built in 1874.

Cape Hatteras, North Carolina
Tallest
in the nation, this 193' tower with a First Order Fresnel lens helps
protect vessels from the treacherous Diamond Shoals often known as
"The Graveyard of the Atlantic." Built in 1870.

This
is the first lighthouse in America completed by the federal government, as
well as the first light tower in Maine. Its first keeper, Joesph Greenleaf,
was appointed by George Washington. Built in 1791.

Montauk, New York
Built
at the eastern most point of Long Island, of "Chatham freestone, fine
hammered", the tower was rebuilt in 1860, increasing its height from
80 to 108 feet. Its light can be seen for 19 miles. Built in 1797.
